There are some constituents or compounds that make up this oil. Linalool is one of them. Limonene and linalool are two of the constituents that make up citrus-based essential oils. And if you happen to live in a city like, let’s say, Los Angeles that has high ozone levels, and theyâll get warnings in the weather reports saying it’s a high ozone day. So people who have allergies sometimes have a hard time breathing. So citrus- based products like this react with naturally present ozone in the air and create macca ingredients and aphrodisiacs. Formaldehyde is a carcinogen. Oh, my goodness. Yeah. So this is where I get like super hair splitting. And I’m like “Well, if youâre going to use an essential oil, maybe not the citrus ones if you live in a place that has high ozone levels.â So sometimes those cities will actually put out warnings and say, “Please don’t use citrus-based cleaners today because it can create formaldehyde.â I never heard that. And itâs not a tremendous amount of formaldehyde. But formaldehyde is a known carcinogen. And I don’t want to be breathing that in. Okay. So better mint or pine or something like that? Sure. Yeah. Again, this is not like where we live in the Pacific Northwest, we don’t really have an ozone issue here. So, fine, no problem. But it’s really just like an asterisk or caveat. Like, if you live in a place that has ozone warnings, don’t use citrus-based cleaners. But otherwise, I think itâs okay. But, yeah, essential oils, youâve got these gorgeous smelling flowers here, are really great ways to add fragrance to your home without having to rely on chemicals. The other thing is just opening your windows. People don’t do that anymore. They close all their windows. They keep their house really tight. And thatâs where they get house odors.
